WINDY BOY INVERTERS
Grid Connect Inverters for Wind Turbine Systems
Windy Boy inverters from SMA are ideal for use with grid-connected wind turbine systems. The inverters can be set to "Turbine mode" which allows the inverter to follow the actual power curve of the wind turbine. Windy boy inverters can be adjusted to the wind turbine's characteristics curve using software provided the aim of which is to achieve optimum yield. The windy boy will work with a wide variety of wind turbines and units can be linked together in parallel to achieve the required efficiency. Read windy boy planning guidelines.
To select the right windy boy for your use you will need to know the power and voltage range classification of the planned wind turbine system. Over voltage protection is required on the DC input side and inverters can be located close to the wind turbine thus reducing the need to have long runs of DC cable.
