What you need to know and do.
What is the Feed-In-Tariff?
Solar PV systems installed by an approved MCS approved company are
eligible to receive the feed in tariff. Currently, the FIT rate is
43.3pence per kilowatt hour (kWh) generated regardless if consumed or
not. An additional 3 pence per kilowatt hour (kWh) will be paid for
all electricity not consumed and therefore exported back to the
electricity grid.
How big is a typical solar pv system?
Solar PV systems are modular and a typical domestic system will be between 1
to 4kWp and in some cases may even be larger. Electricity produced by a solar
PV system is usually consumed first, but excess energy (export) can be sold back to the electricity grid.
How much roof space is required? Domestic solar PV systems require a good roof space. Our surveyor will determine the correct size system for your available roof space.
How does the solar PV system work? Solar panels or modules are sold in sizes ranging from 10Wp to 240Wp. We sell solar PV systems based upon the kilo Watts peak (kWp). A system sized at 2.4kWp will have 10 x 240Wp solar modules. We are able to supply a wide variety of solar panels to suit your property and power requirements.
How do I receive the Feed-In-Tariff? As an accredited solar pv installer our installed systems are eligible for the Feed-In-Tariff. To apply for the FIT you must contact your energy provider and ask for a G83/1 or Small Scale Embedded Generation (SSEG) form. You should do this once you agree to have a solar PV system installed.
Will I have to change electrical supplier? Selling energy back to the electricity supplier can be done. It is a simple process and we can supply you with a list of companies with the best rates. Bright Green Energy can advise you on the best rates for your system following your installation.
