Deger Solar Trackers

Single and Dual Axis trackers for all purposes


A solar tracker automatically follows the sun during the course of a day and throughout the seasons of the year.  They generate around 30-40% more energy than a conventional fixed array.  Areas that are exposed to high levels of sunlight or for applications such as solar pumping then trackers are considered the ideal solution.  It may even be worthwhile to consider a tracker when the cost of adding additional solar panels is outweighed by the increase in power obtained from a tracker, thus making them very cost effective.

Trackers also offer advantages over fixed array systems as then can capture more of the available light during day-to-day operating thus making them very efficient.

DEGER energie tracking systems are fastening systems for photovoltaic modules. They constantly adapt the angle of PV modules to face the sun, so that the irradiation angle and the light intensity remain constant and a maximum of electrical energy can be generated. This not only helps to exploit every minute of sunshine but also to make the best use of diffuse light – all year round. This leads to an added solar energy yield of 20 – 25% for single-axis, and 35 – 45% for dual-axis tracking systems. The result is increased efficiency and thus shorter amortization times or higher profits. DEGER tracking systems pay!

There are different types of tracker systems available - PASSIVE TRACKING, ACTIVE TRACKING and single axis or dual axis tracking. Single axis tracking is easier to implement as the system can either track the the daily path of the sun or its yearly path. Solar trackers are ideally suited to water pumping applications as they can be utilised to to increase the amount of water pumped during the course of a day. As the tracker can be set to dawn and dusk operation this will significantly increase the amount of water pumped during a single day.

Solar trackers use an optical, solid-state sensor to align the modules to the arc of the sun and sun sensors calculate the amount of sunlight falling on the array thus allowing the solar tracker ensure a uniform spread of sunlight on the array.

At night the solar tracker moved into a horizontal position in order to maximise output from the diffused conditions and moves back to the sunrise position on daybreak.

What’s included in delivery?
The standard scope of delivery includes the pole, base frame, rotating head, elevation unit, DEGERconecter sensors with energy converter, as well as aluminium profiles and F-Set mounting material suitable for the used panels. DEGERtraker 300’s are delivered without pole, TOPtraker’s with a rack kit

Are the clamps for mounting of the panels included?
Yes, an appropriate number of clamps is included

Can I order single components?
No. Only complete tracking systems can be purchased.

Does Bright Green Energy offer planning or installation services?
Yes, we offer and full design and installation service.

Why sensor based solar tracking?
With the sensor based DEGERconector control the module surface is accurately pointed at the sun during times of sunshine. During times of overcast weather, the DEGERconecter adjusts the module to face the point with the strongest global radiation. For that reason a higher yield can be obtained in comparision with astronomically (PLC) guided systems, which don’t react on actual weather conditions.

Which module types can be mounted on a DEGERtraker?
All popular solar PV modules are supported and can be mounted.

How many solar panels can be used on a DEGERtraker?
A calculation for a certain number of popular modules is displayed on the “suitable number of modules” data sheet provided by DEGERenergie or through project based calculations. For first calculations you can consider a tolerance value of 10%. Please be aware that the maximum number of modules could be limited through regional wind load premises.

Are technical drawings of module configurations available?
Yes. You will receive detailed information for your module type/your configuration latest after order placement.

Which distance/space is needed between 2 DEGERtrakers?
The space depends on the geographical region (latitude) because of the different self shadowing effect and can be calculated with data sheets provided by DEGERenergie.

Maximum Wind Load?
Deger Tracker systems are designed to the German norm DIN 1055-4 - which conforms to the EUROCODE - for a wind load of 0.50 kN/m². If the systems are planned to be erected in a region with higher wind loads the system can be adapted by reducing the module surface.

What is a wind guard and when do you need to use it?
The wind guard adjusts the module surface of the DEGERtrakers in save horizontal position when a wind load of 10 m/sec is exceeded, to guarantee that the secure position is reached before the storm occurs. The wind guard is included with the CCB (central control box).

What is the expected performance increase with trackers as a function of latitude?
With approach to the equator (more southern latitudes) the additional yield shows a tendency to 30%, with direction to northern latitudes the additional yield in comparison to fixed installations inclines to 45%.

What is the function of the Slip-Ring?
The slip ring is only for use in equatorial regions, because the sun is changing from the north to the south of the equator and a limitation of the azimuth axis isn’t possible.

Foundation of DEGERtraker?
DEGERtraker do have a round concrete foundation made. The size of the foundation is determined through the system and the pole length used. It can be build above ground or underground, whereas with underground foundations a longer mast is needed to maintain enough clearance. For each foundation you can receive reinforcement information.

Is it possible to build a rectangular foundation?
There is no restriction on building a rectangular foundation. The only thing which you have to adhere is that the edge length matches the diameter of a round foundation to maintain the necessary steadiness.

Usage of ground anchors instead of a foundation?
Ground anchors can only be used when the anchor manufacturer provides respective calculations.

Which system is applicable on industrial flat roofs?
The single-axis TOPtraker is the system which is designed for flat roofs.

Is a wind guard available for TOPtrakers?
You don't need a wind guard with a TOPtraker, because it's structurally designed to be storm secure and resistant in any position (e.g. the maximum in east-west direction of 450). With stormy weather we normally have also overcast conditions, which lead the TOPtraker into the more secure 300 position.

The supply voltage of TOPtraker is 24 V/DC, is a power pack included?
A power pack is NOT included and should deliver 2 amperes for a single TOPtraker and 1 ampere for each additional tracker, for example a 5 amperes power pack for 4 TOPtracker.

Are DEGERtraker systems capable for concentrator or solar thermal applications?
No. Thye only have minimal power requirements and so only standard PV modules can be used.

How much power can I produce with a DEGERtraker?
Example: TOPtraker with 6 modules 200Wp each With the 6 modules you have 1,2 kWp energy capacity on one tracker. So the first factor to determine what you can expect is the quality of the used panels. The second factor is the attainable regional power, which is between 700 and 1000 kWh per kWp and year in Germany (higher in Southern Europe). With a TOPtraker you can get an additional yield of 20 – 30%, but only if you adhere the minimum distance between the trackers. Therefore you can achieve a theoretical maximum yield of 1560 kWh per kWp with this example.
